Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving a web pages or web sites ability to appear in the search engines.
When it comes to SEO, backlinks are crucial. A backlink is a link from an outside website or webpage to your own website or webpage. They tell the search engines how popular your page is. So when your URL (example: http://www.onlinemlmtakeover.com) is placed as a hyperlink on another site, that is considered a backlink.
Note: The link has to be a live link.
Backlinks help search engine rankings because the engines will see your page as one that is important if other websites are referencing it (linking to it). So the more links, the better.
One of the quickest and easiest ways to create backlinks to your site is to make comments on blogs.
Comment boxes on blogs are setup so that you enter your name, email address, and website address. Once the comment is posted, the name you used for your comment becomes anchor text.
So when you post your comment, not only will you have a link to your site but the name you used in your comment will be indexed as its anchor text.
In addition to the number of links, another key to effective blog backlinking is relevance. The search engine, Google especially, rewards relevance so its advantageous to comment on blogs that are related to the page you’re backlinking to.
Blog commenting is definitely one of easiest ways to create a backlink to your page and should be incorporated in any SEO work you perform.

Great site Nate. And You are so right back linking by commenting on blogs is one of the quickest ways to get links to your site. However another effective module is to sign up for social networking sites, and to create content such as articles and Press Releases to the search engines.
