3 Simple Follow-Up Tips

by Nate on May 13, 2010

I know you’ve heard this adage before, “The fortune is in the follow up.”

This is true in many ways but network marketers have a tendency to go about this process the wrong way. Therefore, they don’t get results. And results is all that matters.

Over the last couple years in the network marketing industry, I’ve learned a lot of things about following up with prospects.

And I’ve learned the hard way so here are 3 tips that will help you:

1. Instead of giving your prospect your number, ask for theirs.
If you give someone your number, don’t expect to be called. There is a slim chance that they will pick up and phone and actually do so. Why? Because life happens. And some people forget. Others just procrastinate and say, “Yeah, I’ll call later.” And then they ultimately forget! So if you want to be called within a reasonable time period, take their number and call them.

2. Always set an exact day and time to call your prospect back. Don’t schedule it too far in the future.
People are more likely to pick up the phone if you have set an appointment for the call rather than if you just call them out of the blue. They are more likely to be prepared for your call and won’t be caught off guard.

3. Never ask your prospect to call you back.
They won’t. Again, life happens. And some people will put the call off until the point where they completely forget to call you back.

So the golden rule is to not leave any part of the follow-up process in the hands of your prospect. Take charge of the follow-up process. That’s where the fortune is…
